Questlove, the drummer and leader of the hip-hop band, The Roots, has reflected on his career

and how the pandemic allowed him to "stop and listen to what my heart was telling me."

He said that before the pandemic, he had up to 19 different jobs at the same time, as he felt the need to take on every job that came his way.

However, the pandemic changed his perspective, and he realized he should only do what made him excited.

During lockdown, Questlove wrote a book for children, The Rhythm of Time, and completed Summer of Soul, a movie about the 1969 Harlem Cultural Festival.

He says he now wants to "be the change that I want to see."

Questlove has also recently been reflecting on his early career, including performing on stage from a young age when he played the shaker and cowbell for his parents' band.

He formed The Roots with his friend Tariq Trotter, and since 2009, the band has been the house band for The Tonight Show, with Jimmy Fallon.
