Based on the video game brand of the same name, Halo is an upcoming American military science fiction television series being created by Kyle Killen and Steven Kane for the streaming service Paramount+ and set to premiere in 2019.
A 26th-century war between the United Nations Space Command and the Covenant, a theocratic-military alliance of several advanced alien races, is depicted in the series, which is produced by Amblin Television, 343 Industries, Showtime Networks, One Big Picture, and Chapter Eleven, among other companies.
The film also stars Natascha McElhone, Yerin Ha, Charlie Murphy, Shabana Azmi, Bokeem Woodbine, Kate Kennedy, Natasha Culzac, and Bentley Calu, with Pablo Schreiber and Jen Taylor portraying Master Chief Petty Officer John-117 and Cortana, with the latter reprising her role from the video game series. The first steps at creating a Halo television series were taken in 2013.
Despite the fact that Killen was hired in June 2018, the series officially confirmed a nine-episode order for Paramount+ in July 2018. Filming began in Ontario, Canada, in October 2019, while post-production for the first five episodes was delayed as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic that afflicted the region.
In February 2021, filming restarted in Budapest, Hungary, where it had previously stopped. Halo is planned to air on Paramount+ on March 24, 2022, with a second season already confirmed. The series has already been renewed for a third season. On March 14, 2022, a section of the series will be screened at SXSW in Austin, Texas.

Will the Halo TV series get a season 2?
Yes. The second season of Master Chief is expected to premiere within the next year or two, barring a shocking and severe reversal of course. Halo was renewed for a second season by Paramount in February, according to Deadline Hollywood.
Is Master Chief in the Halo TV series?
Yes. He is, in fact. He’s been confirmed at every turn, and we already know who’s going to be playing him. The role of Master Chief has been cast with actor Pablo Schreiber. It’s possible that you recognize Schreiber from his role as dockworker Nick Sobotka in season 2 of The Wire, as well as from some of his more recent appearances on television and in films such as American Gods, Skyscraper, and Orange Is the New Black. According to IMDB, he stands at approximately 6’5″ tall.
Story of the Halo TV series
However, while Levine did not reveal any plot details, he did confirm that it would be a “extremely respectful of the canon” new story that will make use of the Halo franchise’s framework of the Covenant and the namesake Halo space stations.
Kiki Wolfkill, the head of transmedia at 343 Industries, noted in an official post that the series will attempt to find a balance between meeting fan expectations and introducing something new to them. While considering what it means to adapt videogame franchises for film or television, Wolfkill wrote that
“finding a balance between moments fans have already experienced and moments that have yet to be experienced through a different medium, perspective, or creative lens” can be the most difficult challenge. In order to provide you with something that is both respectful of what you already know and love but still innovative, surprising, and intriguing, we are delighted to traverse these creative seas.
When might it take place in the Halo chronology, exactly? The Covenant’s conflict with the United States offers several interesting storylines for a television series. Chief’s origins, his conscription into the Spartan program (which would include an appearance by the titular planet from 2010’s Halo: Reach),
and his eventual first contact with the Covenant are all possible strong angles that could provide plenty of on-camera opportunities to showcase John-117’s face in various stages of grizzled determination. When it comes to the Halo universe, a literary adaptation like Fall of Reach would make sense—but if you’re trying to incorporate the Halo rings while telling a fresh story, that seems doubtful.
