A woman from Florida shared the story of how she made the decision to have both of her breasts removed “The Boobless Babe”. The young woman, now 29 years old, has discussed her surprising decision to undergo a double mastectomy one year ago when she was only 28 years old. Stephaine Germino was a courageous young woman who hailed from Florida in the United States. This is her story.
History of breast cancer in her family
After discovering that she had a variant in the BRCA1 gene that increased her risk of developing breast cancer, Stephanie Germino stated that she made the decision to undergo the surgical procedure.
Germino mentioned in a recent interview with the Sun that she had a suspicion that breast cancer ran in her family due to the fact that her maternal grandmother had been diagnosed with the disease on two separate occasions. She stated that she was “extremely emotional, but she did not take it as a death sentence” when she got the results.
Stephaine’s higher chances of getting breast cancer
Germino’s decision to undergo a double mastectomy was an easy one for her to make because, according to her, she did not believe that her breasts indicated that she was a woman. According to the National Cancer Institute, one in eighteen women will be diagnosed with breast cancer during the course of their lifetimes.
By the time they are 70 to 80 years old, between 55 and 72 percent of women who inherit the BRCA1 variation will have been diagnosed with breast cancer. Germino discovered that she had an 87% risk of developing breast cancer based on a number of other genetic variables.
The mother of 6-year-old underwent a mastectomy
Germino, who is Josiah’s mother, stated that she breastfed her son when he was a baby and that she felt that her breasts had “done their job” after doing so. Josiah is now 6 years old. The courageous young woman underwent a double mastectomy the previous year with her supportive partner, Diana, by her side.

Then, as evidence that the surgery had been successful, Germino clutched her newly flattened chest. Because I believed that lying down would help me feel better, I made the decision to lie down. Germino is so pleased with her new figure that she decided to alter her Instagram account to @theebooblessbabe almost a full year after undergoing breast reduction surgery.

She is currently spreading awareness about the BRCA1 gene mutation and encouraging other women to get testing, which consists of the simple collection of a blood sample and its subsequent analysis in a laboratory.
Germino stated, “It does take some time to get used to something this big, but now that I’m flat, I’m more sure of myself than I’ve ever been. I’ve always been quite sure of myself, but now that I’m flat, I’m even more convinced. I truly do feel like a badass right now “.
